How has being a Philosophy graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"Studying Philosophy at Duke was the most relevant and important academic study in terms of preparing me for roles in corporate America - first financial service and now technology. Being able to comprehend, consider, discuss, and debate complicated concepts (sometimes from dense texts!) has been an important building block in developing critical thinking skills. Additionally, the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing is the most practical skill that studying Philosophy at Duke has provided me."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Philosophy programs?

"Enjoy it - what a privilege to have the time to read, think, discuss and debate philosophy! And know that the critical thinking that is being developed will most likely be incredibly useful for your future success, regardless of your next steps academically and/or professionally."
