How has being a Philosophy graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"Philosophy has allowed me to think about the world from a different perspective than I would have on my own. I have contemplated the intricacies of interpersonal relationships and how we as individuals affect each other throughout society both consciously and unconsciously. I have been able to use this philosophical background to grow in empathy, compassion, and creativity in order to create change."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Philosophy programs?

"Engage in the conversation! Whatever philosophy class you may be taking, there is someone that comes from a different background and most likely has a different reason for taking that class. However, philosophy has a knack for bringing a diverse set of students into the same classroom which makes for some eye-opening and contemplative discussions."
