How has being a Philosophy graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"The kind of reasoning and thinking required in philosophy is directly related to the law and my professional life. Philosophy also provides a grounding for my own pursuits and reading in philosophy, evolutionary biology, history, etc."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Philosophy programs?

"Studying philosophy helps one to think in a disciplined and coherent way. It provides organizing principles for ethics, law, and countless other areas that are timeless and transcend current or trendy ways of thinking. In other words, it provides a toolkit for life."
