Ben Sarbey

I am a PhD student in the Department of Philosophy, specializing in medical ethics and moral psychology. I graduated from Duke Law School in 2017, focusing on health law.

I am interested in the philosophy of death and dying, in particular issues related to how we experience the process of dying. I also work on other philosophical issues at the end of life, including the ethics of anti-aging research, physician assisted suicide laws, as well as treatment of older patients, especially those with dementia. I am currently working to develop an account of what "dying well" looks like. I am fascinated by memoirs of the dying process. When I am not thinking about death and dying I enjoy hiking and reading short stories.
