The nature and constitution of mind in humans, animals, and robots. Relation between body/mind and consciousness/cognition. Related philosophical problems about the mind: subjectivity, skepticism about other minds, relation of language to mind, and the effects of brain lesions on mental life. Readings from philosophy, psychology, neuropsychology, cognitive ethology, and artificial intelligence. Open only to students in the Focus Program. One course.
